“Vestiges” is a pair of sculptures created in Al-’Ula. Immersed in a date palm farm, with clay and local myths as materials, I explored the structure of the date palms—totems of the desert symbolizing fertility, resilience, and the sacred connection between earth and sky, present both in pre-Islamic mythology and the Quran. Using thick clay sheets, I took impressions of the trunks to create two sculptures. These pieces are relics; they serve as archives and witnesses to a past that is perpetually replayed.
